People Born on February 9, Famous and Interesting – Have fun!

PEOPLE BORN ON THIS DAY:

Wilhelm Maybach, 1846 (Auto Pioneer)

people born on this day feb 9

Among interesting people born on this day, I have to mention:

German engineer and engine designer, who invented the spray carburettor and was the chief designer of the first Mercedes automobiles (1900-01).

At age 26, he began designing cars with Gottlieb Daimler and Nikolaus Otto, with whom he developed the four-stroke engine cycle.

In April 1882, Maybach joined Gottlieb Daimler in a partnership to produce a light-weight, high-speed petrol engine suitable for vehicles.

Maybach invented the float-feed carburettor (1893) in which fuel was vaporized by passing it through a jet as a fine spray and mixed with air to produce a combustible mixture for the engine.

Maybach designed the first Mercedes car for Daimler in 1901, but retired in 1907 to design and manufacture engines for Zeppelin airships. His son, Karl Maybach, followed him in producing luxury automobiles.

Famous Birthdays February 8 th Have Fun!

FAMOUS BIRTHDAYS ON THIS DAY:

I hope you like my choices for today’s «Famous Birthdays». I included  some interesting data about Dmitri Mendeleev. He arranged the chemical elements and put together what we all know now as The Periodic Table of Elements.

Dmitri Mendeleev  – Inventor of The Periodic Table

Dmitri Mendeleev, Russian in full Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, (born January 27 (February 8, New Style), 1834, Tobolsk, Siberia, Russian Empire—died January 20 (February 2), 1907, St. Petersburg, Russia), Russian chemist who developed the periodic classification of the elements. Mendeleev found that, when all the known chemical elements were arranged in order of increasing atomic weight, the resulting table displayed a recurring pattern, or periodicity, of properties within groups of elements. In his version of the periodic table of 1871.

Strong Mind Equals a Powerful Life – Post 338

Strong Mind

LIVE STRONG!

Life is full of wonders.

Things happen in life that are out of our control. Some are good, some others are bad and they inflict happiness or pain in our hearts. If we haven’t built a strong mind we might react in a negative way and feel like we are losing control of our lives when they affected us with harm.

Fear, doubt and worry are feelings that could help you evolve and conquer, or destroy you in the heat of the moment.  When the going gets tough, it takes a special kind of mental toughness to fight those emotions. You need a personal reminder to strengthen your mind, because no matter how great the challenge, your  can be greater.

Albert Einstein explain in this quote what a powerful mind can do to your well-being, your health and even your wealth:

A Lee Boyd Malvo quote:

Mind over matter. Weak minded people are easily influenced. Powerful minded people you can’t break their will.    — Lee Boyd Malvo

That is why is so important that we refresh our mind day by day with positive thoughts, beautiful images, proper information, joy and gratitude. There is a lot of truth to what it has been said about «peace of mind».

A mind in peace can function and accumulate better thoughts than a mind in constant battle and disarray. Consequently that mind will make better decisions, decisions that will influence positively once life.

Remember now: Build a strong mind to have a powerful life!

Stunning Bird Wing Patterns to Make You Happy – P 336

Stunning Birds

STUNNING BIRDS

There are thousands of different beautiful species of birds on earth that it would take all of our lives forever to list them all, to photograph them all, to describe them all.

In this article, I want to show you a few of the many who I find just staggering.

Whether it’s for camouflage or attracting a mate, the birds listed below have all the colors of the rainbow in their beautiful feathers!

Southern Ground Hornbill

Guess what’s for dinner?! …

your favorite! Dragonfly!

Wings

All birds have wings, although not all birds fly. Nor are wings confined to Aves; bats are flying mammals and most insects have wings.

Red bellied Fruit-dove

Birds’ bodies are beautifully designed for flight, with strong chest muscles and just enough curve to their wings to provide lift. Differences in wing shape provide different advantages to the various bird species. The narrow, sharp-tipped wings of the falcon provide speed; albatrosses soar high on wings much longer than they are wide.

Staggering Wing Pattern

Most songbirds have elliptical, evenly shaped wings that facilitate quick, small movements in the tight spaces of their tree homes. Swimming birds, such as penguins and puffins, have flipper-shaped wings that propel them rapidly and gracefully through water.

Is It a bird, a Butterfly or a Crochet?

Beautiful Sunday Morning Enjoying 3 days of Rain

A SUNDAY TO RELAX AND ENJOY LIFE!

Beautiful Sunday Morning

This Sunday is just gorgeous. My vegetables plants, bulbs, limes, lemons orange and mandarin trees are full with fruit and rain drops on their leaves.

It is winter but my tomatoes are enchanting! Something I notice this season is that they are bigger and sweeter. I wonder. Maybe it’s because I used my own compost last year, since april I started creating my own compost and started using it in the fall with my tomatoes and citrus.

The branches are so heavy they are bending down, that’s why I had to get some bamboo pieces to straighten them up. It was so much fun to do it. The smell of the wet dirt with the one coming from the wet oranges and limes, it’s  just to die for!

When I am not out cycling on the weekend, I love to take care of my plants. I have so many and in Winter I have as much work to do in the yard as in Spring and Summer, because I have to plant carrots, onion, garlic, etc., and I need to start preparing the dirt and seeds for the coming planting season and for Spring.

Nature is amazing, isn’t it?

I have always loved nature. Call it forest, oceans, animals, humans, lakes, air, sun, stars and anything beyond earth; micro and macro-systems, ecosystems. Breathing life, constantly, living the moment fully, integrating my thoughts with nature to feel myself alive, and not alone.

20 Surprising Fun Cat Facts – Abraham Lincoln Loved Cats!

CATURDAY FACTS – INTRO

Abraham Lincoln loved cats

ABRAHAM LINCOLN and his LOVE for CATS!

United States President, Abraham Lincoln, loved all animals, especially cats. He loved cats so much that his wife once said that cats were her husband’s hobby.

The then, Secretary of State William Seward, gave two kittens on Lincoln as a White House gift. The President loved to spend hours just petting the cats and talking to them.

Young cute cat close-up portrait. The British Shorthair pedigreed kitten with blue gray fur

He fed his kitties at the table. One time he used a gold fork to do that, which was too much for Mrs. Lincoln. His response?

“If a gold fork was good enough for former President Buchanan, it’s good enough for Tabby.”

AMAZING FUN CAT FACTS:

    1. Cats have over 20 muscles that control their ears.

    2. A group of cats is  called clowder.

    3. Cats have more data storage than an iPad.

    4. Abraham Lincoln had four cats in the White House.

    5. Adult cats only meow to communicate with humans.

    6. Some cats are ambidextrous. Although 40 to 50% of female cats are typically right-pawed, while male cats are typically left-pawed: Psychologists Deborah Wells and Sarah Millsopp of Queen’s University Belfast tested 42 house cats — 21 males and 21 females — to determine whether they favored their right or left paws when performing tasks of varying difficulty. Their report on the results has been accepted for publication in the journal Animal Behavior of Science Direct (play with your kitties and let me know if this is true. I did it and couldn’t prove it, 🤩 but then again, I’m not a Psychologist).

    7. SO SORRY dog lovers: A cat’s cerebral cortex (the part of the brain in charge of cognitive information processing) has 300 million neurons, compared with a dog’s 160 million. (BTW,  (I love dogs too 🐶).

    8. Cats are very picky creatures about their «bathroom.» If you have more than one feline, you should have one litter box for each one of them.

    9. They are the only mammals that cannot taste sweetness (no cake for my kitty-cats on my birthday).

    10. A cat can jump six times his length in a single bound.

    11. Cats love routine. Any change in their routine makes them mad, upset. Some cats get sick, they can vomit or refuse to eat.

    12. When Cats Leave Their Poop Uncovered It’s a Sign of Aggression.

    13. Kneading is a sign of contentment and happiness. Cats knead their mothers when they are nursing to stimulate the let-down of milk.

    14. There are currently 45 Hemingway cats living at the writer’s former home in Key West, Fla.

    15. A cat’s nose is ridged with a unique pattern, just like a human fingerprint.

    16. The first cat in space was a French cat named Felicette (a.k.a. “Astrocat”) In 1963, France blasted the cat into outer space. Electrodes implanted in her brains sent neurological signals back to Earth. She survived the trip.

    17. A cat can travel at a top speed of approximately 31 mph (49 km) over a short distance.

    18. In several countries of Europe and North America black cats are a sign of bad luck, but in Britain and Australia black cats are considered lucky!

    19. Usually, a cat has about 12 whiskers on each side of its face. Have you counted them already? 😇

    20. A cat’s jaw can’t move sideways, that is why a cat can’t chew large chunks of food.

Most Beautiful Trees of the World – Post 331

FLOWERING DOGWOOD TREE

Beautiful tree

TREES AND THEIR BEAUTY

Trees amaze me with their beautiful majesty. Since I was a little girl I loved to climb them up. The taller the better, all kinds, woody, fruity, with flowers…and never fell.

Being on top of a tree made me feel so happy and peaceful, looking at the horizon at dawn or sunset, and the blue beautiful sky. Feeling the breeze caressing my face, my neck, my arms, was an experience that I will never forget, an experience that I remember and hold dear in my heart.

JAPANESE MAPLE TREE

I agree with the German poet and philosopher, Herman Hesse, who said: “Trees are sanctuaries. When we have learned to listen to trees… that is home. That is happiness.” — I am quoting his book Trees: Reflections and Poems.

Dr. Hesse makes the philosophical case, and how they are the key to essential notions of truth, beauty, home, belonging and happiness.

There is a Japanese saying: «taking in the forest atmosphere’ or ‘forest bathing’, which is currently back in fashion as a popular type of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine.

Forests, earth cannot live without them. Trees give oxygen, beauty, food for fauna, cover, protection and shelter for many animals.

MAJESTIC ANGEL OAK

beautiful

Just like me, Fiona Stafford, an arboreal contributor and the author of The Long, Long Life of Trees, has had a love of trees since childhood. She says: “Trees seem to create a different world within themselves, not just in terms of the wildlife but as imaginative spheres where things seem possible that might not be in the everyday working world.”

WISTERIA TREE

She finds something “very soothing”, she says, about “a huge familiar object that is so full of life and just quietly nurtures all the things that live within its canopy.” Stafford points to classic children’s literature from Robin Hood to The Wind in the Willows. “And Frances Hardinge’s recent award-winning book The Lie Tree may well be a classic of the future.”

Stafford thinks trees, in fact, can make us happier:

“Trees appeal to all the senses,” she points out.  “Fresh smells, the sound of moving leaves and birdsong, the texture of the bark – all of these are appealing, especially in modern cities… They connect us to others, whether contemporaries or those in the past or future. If you plant a sapling that may take 200 years to reach its full stature, you are pledging faith in the future and offering a gift to the generations yet to be born. That’s a pretty good feeling.”
