New Blogger Day in WordPress: Contemplation Adorable Chickens and More!

NEW BLOGGER IN WORDPRESS:

I find this post by Michele Pruitt so cute, I couldn’t resist to show you her pictures and what she is all about in her new blog: Contemplation

But before I share with you one of the brand new posts, I want to welcome her to this wonderful world of blogging in WordPress.

                            CHICKENS IN THE YARD

I love having chickens in the backyard. Besides being interesting, noisy, and colorful, they provide my family with delicious eggs. It is also amazing to watch a hen sit on her eggs and hatch baby chicks!

Chickens do have personalities that are unique, some let you carry them around while others like to sit on your shoulder. They even get along with cats!

Overall, I like all kinds of birds, but i do love having and caring for chickens.

Breaking Record again in My WordPress Blog Posts 149 Likes in One Day!

Let’s see, I have been writing blog posts since 2005. But it was in 2008 when I discovered WordPress and since then this platform has been my digital home. Of course, the domain has changed through out the years, but it is until recently that I found the perfect domain name for me. I like the way it is and I am planning to keep it the same.

Who writes a blog and doesn’t pay attention to the «likes» one receives? The more your blog is read the better is for you, unless you are writing a private blog for another purpose.

So, I am proud to announce that yesterday WordPress notified me that I broke my old record of 148 per day. I got 149, which makes me want to write more often, be consistent with my blog, promote it, interact with all of you, be grateful with all my followers for their loyalty through out the years. Thank you!

In Extremis: The Life and Death of the War Correspondent Marie Colvin

Marie Colvin, the headmost war reporter of her generation was killed in Syria in 2012 at age 56 by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). The world of journalism lost a great and iconoclastic correspondent, a fearless female who covered  the most destructive global calamities of our times.

She lost an eye when she was reporting in Sri Lanka at the end of the civil war. She interviewed Gaddafi twice, and risked her life covering conflict in Chechnya, East Timor, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, and Zimbabwe.

Her personal life was highly interesting as it was her professional one: extremely motivated, bold and unpredictable. She married several times, drank heavily, suffered from PTSD and never allowed anyone to box her into what society expects from women’s roles.

Do you ever get tired of People’s Opinions in Social Media?

I do. That is why I love blogging. Developing a blog is so much more interesting and fun than social media. I have found out that people who do not blog or keep a journal, participate in interesting forums or write articles, become really poor in their process of thinking and their writing capabilities are an atrocity.

FACEBOOK DESTROYING THE THINKER

Blogging requires thinking, knowledge of coding, meta-tagging, and so much more. Some gray matter at work? Have you noticed the level of writing in Facebook? They do not know how to express themselves, they do not know how to write properly. I can’t be close (not even digitally) with people who lack the basic internet etiquette. It is disturbing and my brain cells are too precious for me to waste them in Facebook.

Have you ever talked to a person who only subscribes to social media and asked him or her about blogging? I have, and they are fools, sorry, but it is the truth. They know nothing about inserting coding html, meta-tags, which is so simple to do.

I use social media as what it is: a tool, not as my basic platform to spread word of business not to chat. I only chat with my connections and friends here, in my blog and LinkedIn. I prefer to keep my frontal cortex far away from those social media outlets and just use them as an instant connection thru my main blogging source.

Quality over quantity will bring you happiness and success.
