Right now, I think everybody knows, that there are two main global crisis: health and financial, and it is exactly in these times when people tend to become even more religious than before the crisis.
That is a fact which has been proven through out the history of the world for hundreds of years. You can see a quote here The crisis has helped fuel the increasing religiosity in the country

One question Doctor, why are there a lot religious people in USA if it is a rich country? For example, the mormon church came from it.

You are not a rich country. You have a great deal of poverty in fact. You are a consumer society where money talks and everybody else does not get a look in. Also, there are a lot of isolated communities that can be paid upon by people with a political agenda veiled as religion. You have more poverty than you care to notice.

Yeah people can take religion too far. The nutters tend to hang out on yahoo answers,or similar boards, but are anonymous when posting. Then you have the other extreme like the teacher in france who was beheaded by a fine upstanding rampaging mob for showing a cartoon of Mo to his students.

Just one clarification: the French teacher who was beheaded, Samuel Paty, was not decapitated by a crowd but by a single man, a Chechen refugee, who was shot dead by the police.
